poetry of the land

Just joining in the trilogy of blogs about the poetry reading

I, too, enjoyed my night immensely. Read on for the details!

Diana, first of all, was radiantly sexy. Seriously, my eyes feasted on her. Not only was she dressed to the nines, complete with calf-high leather boots, but she was all flirty and adorable. The best thing about Diana is the shine behind her eyes that begets the quality of an ornery three year old (see Avery Hileman, n.)

Not to be outdone, Katye had put on "face" just for us. Her hair was freshly cut.
Her lips,a soft peachy sheen, pouted defiantly as if to say, "Kiss me, but I'm bashful".

Aside from the food (which sucked for me! LOL!), dinner was a hoot!

Then, we were off to hear poetry. I had to sit in my daughter's booster seat, probably rendering it useless because of the weight limit. We had to control our giggling before walking in right in the middle of the end of the music.

I was expecting older hill folk to be reading poems about the trodden beauty of the Hocking Hills. Instead, we were treated to what Katye refers to as "Imported Poets". See Katye's blog for details and links, folks, I'm too lazy to do it tonight.

The poets were funny, touching, inspiring, real, ethereal...I was truly impassioned by much of what I heard.

I do agree that the depression poem is...let's say a work in progress. I liked the sidewinder, though.

I loved, loved hanging out with my girls. I loved giggling and punching Diana in the arm. I loved watching Katye knit. I loved catching a peripheral glance of Diana's eyes welling up. And most of all, I loved being reminded of how much I need poetry and reading in my life.

Thanks to my womyn.

100th post!

I just wanted to post today. It's so sunny and the atmosphere is light!

I have had a total of 8 kids here at different points throughout the day! Crizazy!

Today, Greyson called to me from my bedroom. I said, "What is it, Greyson?" To which he replied "I getting in your joowy {jewelry} mom!" LOLOL.

I just commented to Katye and Sarah that my skin has been so much improved lately. Found a big ole zit this morning, right on the mouth. Niiiice.

Week one weight watchers-big success. Week two weight watchers-huge failure. Ate almost all my weekly points at Olive Garden last night.

Looking forward to a girl's evening out on Friday. We're going to a poetry reading/chamber music thang. Pretending to be cultured is fun.

Got laid last night. Wheeeee!

I have seen more Toby Keith videos this week than any other artist. Thanks, Diana!

Okay, kids need my guidance. Gotta run!

Over-rated, Under-rated

Here are some things that I find to be over-rated:

*Norah Jones Breathy, self-absorbed, boring.

*Queer Eye for the Straight Guy Cute the first time I saw it. Every episode since seems like a parody of the first one.

*Oprah's Book Club Books Does everything I read have to be depressing?

*Daylight Savings Time The extra hour of light in the evening is nice, really it is. But I'd skip it just for convienience. And for the extra hour on one damn Saturday night of the year. And for the fact that my children are going to be up past ten for a week while we all get adjusted.

And here is my list of things that are under-rated. Appreciate them!

*Naps Ahh, naps. The healing qualities therein are great. Naps restore my very soul. My kingdom for a nap!

*ExerciseOf course I was going to get on that bandwagon. I get soooo cranky without my workouts. It's like a shot of serotonin, quick. And makes your skin glow.

*Trashy magazines/Fluff books Just like junk food, sometimes it's good to go off your steady diet of "serious" reading and take a peek at what Paris H!lton wore on the red carpet, see what Brad 'n Jenn are up to on their vacation, and learn why your ascending sign may tell you more about your inner side than your Sun sign.

*Two year olds Granted, mine is quite the little baby ass lately. But two year olds are also amazing! My son learns new words by the dozens every day! He astounds me with what he can do. No wonder they are cranky-their little minds and bodies are acquiring new skills with little rest in between. This is like college finals for toddlerhood! Also, when they sleep, a two year old can look just like an angel.
