Superbowl dilemma

The Steelers are my team. I have been a fan for at least fifteen years and maybe more. And as everyone in the North American continent knows, they're going to the Big Game this Sunday.

My dilemma is this: This is the first time I've asked Gene (the ex hub) to let me go watch it. Typically, he's gone to watch with someone or watched at home while I got kids out of the house or whatever. But this year, I made a deal that if the Steelers went, I'd be watching it.

So now I'm free. And I don't have anyone to watch it with. My boyfriend always goes to his friend's house to watch and I could probably show up, but:
a.) The friends aren't Steelers fans, b.) The friends don't much like womenfolk (in general, I think, but especially not at football games.), which leads me to corollary A, I don't want to be heckled, and c.) I wasn't actually invited.

None of my other friends around here gives a damn about football.

I am not going to go watch at a sports bar by myself.

My friend Dominick invited me to go back to the town I used to live in to watch it, which would be perfect in many ways save for the long ass drive back in the middle of the night and the fact that I have to work the next day.

I don't really know what to do. I told Dominick yes last night on the phone. But then I started feeling a little panicky about it.

Maybe my sister will let me come and watch at her house with the big screen TV. Hm.

File this under "Worrying about things which are not a big deal at all".

Just an update

Yo.

I should be happier than ever. In many, many ways, I am. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel (today, anyway) and I am going to make it.

Still, there's much work to be done. I must get myself some financial aid, I must finish all the classes and have the paperwork in to the state. Then I have to work on my interviewing skills, resume stuff, etc. And find childcare for Greyson, because I've decided, enough transition time. If I'm not going to teach next year, I've GOT TO work more.

Other things burning on the backburners. I am so tired of the Gene stuff. ARGHHHHHH. I can't talk about it here, but I am very upset with stuff surrounding/related to him.

And may I just express how much I love teaching my hip hop class? That's the time I feel most me. I just love it. I create these awesome dances, and then people love them and have fun with them. I mean, how freakin' cool is that?

Ramble ramble. I have work to do today.

Love,
Kym

Reading

I was tired of coming to look at my blog and seeing a blank page.

I'm reading:
Uglies by Scott Westmoreland
and today I just finished The Girl with a Pearl Earring by Tracy Chevalier.

I like Uglies a whole lot better. I thought Earring Girl was stilted. I'm not one who likes to be hit over the head by drama and emotion (well, not in reading), but I like some fire. I mean, I get that she's completely taken by the painter, but it just didn't get my blood on fire. I will sell it to the used bookstore.
Uglies is a teen sci-fi, a genre which apparently pleases me a lot. It's the first in a series of three, so I'll be waiting.

The Many Adventures of Kym, episode 92

Hi, and welcome to this week's episode of

THE MANY ADVENTURES OF KYM!

Co-starring Greyson, Jay, Bill and Katye.

Kym woke up with a nagging feeling. No, it wasn't all of that buffet style cafeteria food. It was something else.

As she was driving Delaney to school, it hit her. Sarah had a midwife appointment, and Bill was supposed to be watching Greyson in the afternoon. No problem. Kym called her friend Katye to see if she could have Greyson later in the afternoon, when Bill would have to leave. "Sure," said Katye. Then, Kym called Bill just to do a morning round-up call. Glitch #2: Bill was sick and he suspected that the kids had the pink eye.

Kym calls Katye back to see if she can have Greyson the entire afternoon. Luckily, she was able to watch him for Kym.

Kym and Grey went home, played a matching game, and played some magnetics. Kym felt like working out, so she and Grey popped up to the gym, only a mile away for a quick 45 minute workout. It was 11:30, just enough time to get home and shower before taking Bird over to Katye's, then heading off to college to try to get in that last class that had been closed. The day, grey as it was, seemed rather hopeful. Except...

The car wouldn't start. Wouldn't even click or turn. Kym ran back in to the gym to call her boyfriend. He always takes lunch at 11:30, he'd be swinging right over that way! Except----

Today, he had taken a super early lunch because his co-worker needed to use his car. So he was at work with no car, and nobody else was there (He's building a house right now). He said that he could make it there in a half hour or so.

So. Kym found someone to try to jump her car, to no avail. Not wanting to wait indefinitely at the gym, Kym hoisted her son onto her back and walked a mile home. In the rain. On roads with barely a shoulder, so her feet often sank into the mud.

Upon arriving home, the phone was ringing. It was Jay and he was on his way, because his co-worker got back earlier than expected. Jay grabbed the keys from Kym and went to look at her car. Meanwhile, she calls Katye to give her a sit-rep.

Jay calls in three minutes. Car fixed. Car not actually *broken* in the first place. Car was not in park all the way, therefore would not turn over.

Kym throws Grey's shoes back on, calls Katye and tells her that she's on the way!

Did I mention that Kym forgot her deoderant today? Her armpits were especially ranky today for some reason, her mascara gobbed and dripping down her face, her hair stringy from the rain and in a wet dew rag, and her shoes muddy beyond all belief.

She takes Grey over to Katyes, and with two minutes to spare, pulls in to the University. As she is running inside, she realizes that the catalog is at home, so she has no idea which building or classroom this class is being held. She finds it with help.

Gasping and looking like something a cat wouldn't even bother to drag in, she huffs her explanation at the professor. After hearing her long winded story, the prof does not let her in the class anyway.

The End.

Epilogue: I called Katye and she told me to go home and chill for a minute and take a shower. I posted this for your enjoyment!!! Love you all!
