Okay, okay, I'll blog already!
Sorry for the extended absence and silence here in Love & a Steady Hand Land. I've been busy and blue and not feeling very bloggy and frankly, until this week, I hadn't actually been on the computer much in the past few weeks.
But I'm back. I hope you will agree with me when I say, hooray!
Lots of things have been happening around here -- for one, Matty is talking!! He is actually making sentences, one of the first was "Thank you Daddy, thank you Mommy" (which actually sounds like "N'koo Daaddah, n'koo Mom") and while he is still VERY hard to understand unless you have lots of context clues, I am again amazed at the way language development seems to come from nowhere. He is so thrilled to be able to communicate at last -- which of course leads to incredible frustration when he is not understood -- but it's all happened in the span of about three weeks and every day brings its own new avalanche of words and concepts.
Here are some amusing Matthew-isms:
bocka: blanket or pillow
No bocka! : can either mean "I don't have any bocka and need some immediately" or "Get that offa me right now, I don't want any bocka!"
Hand = in the bedtime context means "please sing She's Got the Whole World in Her Hands" with the names of everyone we know included in the song
rock: used to mean drink, but now it signifies a request for the rocking chair (or an actual rock)
wogga: water (usually, can I have some... or look there's my cup full of...)
ooos: shoes
Hug ooos: Mara's shoes
bodda too! : I want to sit on the potty too!
cogga: color (I want to color with crayons)
n'koo: thank you
bassh: bath
teesh: teeth (usually, I want to brush them NOW)
Momo: Elmo
mat'man: Batman (or any superhero)
Things he says VERY clearly:
Please, book, read, hair, eyes, ear, elbow, arm, knee, cheek, purple (for any color), two (in response to How are you or how old are you), cookie (also means cookie monster)
People whose name he knows (and says all the time even if they are not here):
Hug (Mara), Laney, Greyson, Emma, Will, Kym, Ro, Preston, Avery, Grammy, Popo, Poppy, Emmie, Tigger, Cookie Monster, Elmo, Bert, Ernie, Oscar, the Count, Big Bird, Shrek (Shek/Tek), Nemo, Max, Sam...
And now he's up which means I have to go but next comes a list of people he can identify from pictures, like Auntie Amy & Uncle Jady... Love love love!
